GEICO Earns Prestigious Award Again
August 4th, 08GEICO, the most rapidly expanding auto insurance provider in the United States, recently received additional recognition from the Ward Group, a company that monitors the insurance industry. GEICO earned a place in Ward’s prestigious 50 Benchmark Group for its excellent treatment of policyholders, its financial stability, and its continued ability to come through with its promises. This is the 18th consecutive year that GEICO has won the award.
GEICO stands for Government Employees Insurance Company, yet it provides auto and other kinds of property insurance to just about any customer. The company is, in fact, privately-owned, and is the third-biggest privately-owned auto insurance provider in America as of 2008.
The company serves almost 8.5 million individuals in the US, and its policies cover over 14.4 million vehicles plying America’s roads. This figure includes many non-standard forms of motorized transportation, such as all-terrain-vehicles, boats, and motorbikes, all covered by GEICO’s policies. The company also provides homeowners’ insurance, which it can combine with GEICO auto insurance offerings through various umbrella policies.
The Ward Group looks over the companies that insure against property loss fare with their customers on a year-by-year basis. Every year, the Ward Group ranks the top 50 insurance companies–including automotive and homeowners insurance companies—for how well and how consistently they’ve processed customers’ claims. GEICO is one of only 5 other American insurance providers to be chosen to be among in the Ward’s 50 Benchmark Group for 18 years straight.
GEICO’s executive vice president, Bill Roberts, prepared some remarks to acknowledge GEICO’s grateful reception of this prestigious award, in which he praised the company’s employees. “Being recognized by Ward’s for the 18th year in a row is a true testament to our associates’ untiring commitment to our policyholders,” stated Roberts. He went on to point out that GEICO has always paired that reliability, for which it was lauded by the Ward Group, with “service and competitive prices.”
